~*my curtains

The house is coming along beautifully…at least that’s what I think and I know it is!

Honestly, we’ve done only very little.

The curtains went up two weeks ago and I cannot fathom just how amazing it has turned out to be!

A month ago, we were scouring the town for fabrics and patterns and was shell shocked when we stepped into a home furnishing outlet to find their designer fabrics costs us a holiday!

I left half dejected because they had fabrics of the highest echelon pristinely named Mocha Love, Latte Swirls and the likes were beyond my reach.

We went from designer to mainstream and it was almost insulting when I felt how thin and wispy the fabrics were to the touch, how the printed patterns were a reminder of cheap bed sheets and I stood there wondering if they have all lost their mind.

We finally found a little curtain maker tucked quietly in the corner of a business center catering to fabrics of all class and as we sat and sift through a myriad of colours, patterns, and fabrics we settled on two designs – one conventionally smart and one unconventionally brave.

We sat pondering, looking, touching, talking, staring, wondering…and touching, we were a little overwhelmed with mindless questions in our heads.

> Will this small swatch of fabric account for a larger overall look of the hall?
> Will this be too light?
> Will this fit? What if it doesn’t?
> Shit, if it doesn’t, there goes the money – money that can fly me to Hong Kong and back!
> What if the pattern looks too overwhelming?
> Should I go for a lighter colour?
> But will that filter out the light?
> Shit, this better work! Or there goes the money that can fly me to Hong Kong and back!

And we took the unconventionally brave fabric comprising a good mix of navy blue, grey, dark brown and speckles of black in a swirling motion.

And the result.

Amazing!

I sat there for hours admiring the grand effect it has on me and it was all worth it.
