~*orchard weekend

The last few weeks went by so fast I barely noticed how the days changed to weeks!

Several weeks ago, we made an impromptu trip up north to Bidor to visit a friend and his orchard. It was such a marvellous time as we took a trip around the compound of his house and forage into the deep orchard.

Ok, before you start thinking it is an orchard the size of a rubber plantation, let me get this right – his orchard, or rather his father who decided to buy up a plot of land as a homecoming-getaway destination away from KL, is situated very closely to the exit from Bidor. It’s a neat and tidy little place but with a comfortable expanse of land to grow the sweetest and juiciest of guava.

Such fun we had! We arrived at his place to be greeted by a pack of puppies that ran out to see the commotion. It was such a sight – to have close to 7 brown-nosed puppies running out to greet you. His children came next, giving us all hugs and loud ‘hello’ greetings. We were instantly welcomed.

We spent a good whole day lazing at the patio (like a story from the colonial times innit :P), sipping teh tarik, eating fruits we plucked from his garden/orchard, chit chatted while his kids played in the pool and the young at heart attempted the play archery and golf with the kids.

It felt quite surreal. I supposed the city life has obstructed so much simpler sight, sound and emotions we forgot how to be calm. CALM! Yes, the entire experience was very calming.
