~*request from chiams!

Said Chiams:
Hehheh okay, back to work now. Happy merdeka.. and please update the blog lah. :P

Hence this…
The interior district of Miri is lovely if not more exciting than I anticipated. I was thrown into the deepest recesses of Ulu Baram in Miri for an expedition, without any mobile phone network! I can live without the air con, no problem, I can live without the best shower facilities, that I can still handle, I can live eating fish for 4 straight days, though trying to force them in was quite excruciating…but but but, no phone coverage left me very very agitated because of the circumstances I was facing.

While traveling 8 hours into the unknown (not to mention the bumpiest ride ever!) what greeted me was more than I could ask for. Living in longhouses for 3 nights, sampan-ing upstream, white water rafting style downstream in a sampan, fishing, picnic-ing ala survivor style, and bathing in the RIVER (which by the way is murky and teh ais coloured ;s) was immensely gratifying. I would not have embarked on such adventure if it isn’t related to work or some sort.

Dad had a sudden health-attack while I was away, which left me quite shaken. Not to mention the absolute desolation I felt not being able to call home. He’s alright now, though I can’t help noticing how weak he has become.

Being away from him is not any easier. We think we’ve gone a little ‘hopeless’ over the elongated period being away from each other for a week. It’s odd how we’re always busy at the wrong time. He flew off on the same day I flew home and it’s just a funny sensation passing the same area on the same day, different time. Off for a nice quiet date tonight. Where we’ll just spent time talking, oblivious to everything as usual, in our hideout *so to speak*

Have a grand Merdeka tomorrow!
