it was Christmas time when i was in Germany
and i got the chance to taste their traditional Christmas cakes, cookies, wine bla bla bla...
and i absolutely warmed up to this particular cake called "Stollen"
and it was one of the many things Dresden (the place i lived in for a good 3 weeks) was famous for too
(although for most part of Germany too enjoy this cake)
so, me being extremely excited over the Stollen, i decided to buy one home thinking my family would like to enjoy some traditional German cake
so upon returning from Prague to Dresden, i woke up extremely early
and took the tram to this other part of the town to get the 'Dresdner Weihnachten Stollen' from this little bakery...
i bought a 1 KG Stollen and even paid an extra Euro to have it packed in a steel box
(cus the little lady in the bakery said it was better to have it in a steel box if i were to travel back to Msia with it)
so i listened to her...
which fortunately, i am eternally grateful for
(ok this is just one boring story about the cake la ok, so if u don't want to read on, i'd understand...i'm simply being anal and telling this story cus of the injustice done to my Stollen!)
home, i took it to (Yoda speaking style)
and then i carried it all the way to my other friend's place cus i had my luggage and other rubbish stored at his place while i jetted off to Berlin
upon returning from Berlin
i repacked my bags and luggage
and paid extra attention to my Stollen
(the last thing i needed after all the drama was to have my sugar/glucose coating on my Stollen falling off the top)
so i decided to carry my Stollen by hand
in total...
i had one huge ass luggage (which my cousin said could fit 2 of me)
a backpack, my huge sling bag, two XL plastic
with my Stollen
at 4.45 am
i dragged all of the above down 3 flight of stairs
alone
again, i carried my Stollen with utmost care
even after missing my flight and being ping-ponged through numerous boarding gates and airports
i kept my Stollen within sight
(of all things huh)
it was utterlly embarassing ok
i was carrying so many things
till this Belgian guy i met in Austria offered to help carry my stuffs!
*super pai seh*
but no...egoistical me said i could handle it!
oh yea, my Stollen...
so cut my already long story short
i took a cab at KLIA
and took my Stollen HOME
this is where the injustice was crimminally done to my Stollen
no one liked it!
except ME
and my boy
everyone else thought it was too sweet and dry
ahr??
sigh
so, every morning
i eat my Stollen with a cup of tea...
this is the story of my Stollen.

sounds familiar. i once brought back scottish famous tea cakes but no one in my family liked them. but i looooooved it so much.
Tell me about it Jun! I loved it so much and i thought they would too...but too bad.
letsfoong: well, u can have some if i have not already finished them.
nicely and dramatically told! *clap clap clap*
i totally understand how u feel. when i buy home stuffs i find it good, somehow my family would say it sucks...
haha...very drama ho...well when u bring something back and expect them to enjoy it, plus throw in a good measure of how u carried it back (cus it has this glucose topping that falls off easily when thumped against anything) it's upsetting when they dun like it...
but now, i find it good, that they hated it...cus i can have it all to myself!!!!! :P
Lols.. What a trip.. I was anticipating the part of the story where the Stollen, got "stolen" but it never came.. 8 p
Anyway unless it char siew pao or anything Malaysian, I doubt that our taste buds will actually say yummmie.. hehe..
