last thursday was phenomenal!
got myself a ticket to watch The Nutcracker in the Semper Opera House
and it was breathtaking!
the place and the show.
There's really no words to express the grandeur of it all
absolutely a work of art
maybe i am just a jakun
but being in the Semper Opera House is like being thrown back to the early 1900's
with the box seats, large chandelier, beautifully ornated ceiling
people were all dressed in their best
with bow ties, tail coats, pretty dresses
but
i looked like crap!
the Ballet and the Orchestra were fantastic
and i almost did not want it to end...
cus i know
it'll be all dark and quiet and i have to go home all alone
cus my friend did not manage to get the ticket
and i went alone
but managed to get home after i missed my second tram and had to wait 30 minutes for the next round
and my adventure continues....
i went to Prague yesterday
alone
it's really liberating to travel alone once you get the hang of it.
well the thing is no one wanted to go cus the ticktes were a little pricey from Dresden
but i figured i'll never be able to do this twice and went for it
but i only bought a one way ticket
cus i was told the return ticket bought from Prague is cheaper.
so i went and all
(a little nervewrecking at first cus there were 2 trains stopping at my platfrom and i wasn't informed about it...and i was just standing there thinking if that was my train or not...and i was straining my ears to catch every German word through the PA System... and the train left...that was when i was thinking if i made the right choice standing there like a fool...but i was a clever fool :P)
well, the entire journey was terribly scenic!
with the Elbe river coarsing through most part of the journey
and the mountains and valleys that came with it
it was an enjoyable 2.5 hour train journey
till the Police & the Prague Immigration Officers came by
they sure look intimidating
plus, i wasn't sure if i was carrying enough documents to cross international borders.
thankfully it was a breeze...
finally got to Prague
with other problems of course
i didn't know how to speak Czech and i had to buy my ticket back
quite a mess
she gave me an open ticket and i had to go to another area to check for my departure time
and the Metro that runs from the train station to the town centre is not like the LRT where we click on the place we want to go
i think they run by tariff zone if i am not mistaken
i was hauling my huge ass map everywhere asking for directions
but it did not take long to get to the town square
i decided to dump the idea of walking through the main town cus i know i haven't got the time to do it before it gets dark,
so i took on a guided tour
and Prague is beautiful in an entirely different way
while most European countries have that similiar Baroque architecture
Prague just has it's little charms to it all
oh plus the food are cheap!!!
after a bit more walking i made my way back to the train station
and by golly!
i met my friend!
He was on his way back to Dresden
and i'm like
woohoo, let's go back together!
and in his thick Italian accent he went
"Ja, ja...das ist gut!"
i was beat by the end of it...
