presented and passed up my 3 ad design. i think it went well but i guess some things are better left in cliches. unable to think out of the box ( but we're always taught to do tht) and unassumingly living in the past, i swear she has some difficulty accepting fashionable designs and still happily trapped in her grannie's suit.
veni, crys and i had some real kick-ass design for the ads, metaphoric, symbolic and totally not your usual comparison contrast Dulux paint ads, but the comparison contrast ones scored higher?!?! WTF?
veni - used sex to sell her product. heavy usage of colours and bright vibrant concepts.
crys - used disaster to portray the durability of Dulux paint.
i - used women body parts to portray decay, disolouring, paint crack and fungal attack to encapsulate the harsh malaysian weather.
however, ppl with funny images of distorted visuals and totally irrelevant ideas scored better then us. eh? and well, the cliches won again.
i'm ok with my marks, but there's some injustice to veni's. she's pissed. she'd probably stayed up more nights than me to get hers done.
and that lady had some nerve to come to us and say "real nice ads you guys have there..very different from the rest" ... yea isn't that the entire idea of this class? It's call Creative Advertising Design for a bloody reason! what so creative about comparison contrast? we've probably had those for some entire lifetime!
