call me dumb, i feel dumb as it is already! ;p ...yesterday was the Hokkien Chinese New Year (the 9th day of Chinese New Year) and i have absolutely NO IDEA about it until yesterday at 12 am!!!!!! and of all person who told me about it was my boyfriend's friend who, if words can actually describe him, are among those full of nonsense type of person, one who wears a pair of socks so colourful he can beat McDonald's! So obviously i didn't trust him till another friend told me it is true! ok so he's right ;) it was fun doubting him ;) ...
anyway, my boy's boss had a Thi Kong (u must say it in the Hokkien way ok ;p) prayers at his place and we were all invited (yesterday was Theen Kong Tan - Cantonese speaking)...loads of food, loads of people, loads of laughters and i was enjoying myself humming to the songs a live band played (a live ENGLISH band in a Chinese festivities ;p)...they were belting out tunes from Ronan Keating to the geezers from the 60's and surprise surprise, they even sang to Hoobastank's The Reason ;p...relatively good! and i enjoyed it...
12 am came and a Lion Dance troupe was invited to usher in the Hokkien New Year ( i think it lasted for almost an hour!!!) ... they were good-the Lion Dance i mean ( and i think they are the same troupe which came to my house last year too...recognized them by their stunts, t-shirt and their lady boss)
makeshift altar table-for offerings to Thi Kong
resting lions, shimmery coats, adorable large eyes and the dancers waiting by the walkway (road way?)
dancing into the house...

after the ceremony was over and done, some neighbours (two to three i think) started the fireworks!!! can u imagine a houseowner setting fireworks as lavish and even more beautiful than what IKANO displayed on Merdeka Day! I wonder how many thousands they spent on the fireworks!
we even spotted about 6 lanterns (you know those type they let loose and it'll float itself into the sky-what do you call em???) being let off into the dark night creating a stark straight line of dots along the skyline. beautiful...we were all just staring upwards...
so anyway, today was nice, i woke up like real early to get to college to register myself, and Crys text me and said "Sorry to keep you waiting, but i have a bad cramp now and wont be going, sorry for waiting"...truth is, i was still in bed, nowhere near ready to go pick her up! ;) so i decided to register when class starts (bad bad bad decision, but wtheck*)...
but hey, i went and watch "Shall We Dance"!! - alone ;) ... and people, i have decided that what i used to think of Richard Gere are all going down the drains...he looks soooooooo freaking good now that he is older!!! Harrison Ford used to top my "Old Man List" but looks like he'll have to go one notch down ;) Those who had watched it, did you guys totally swoon when he came up the escalator with a stalk of rose for his wife???? OMG, that was my fav scene, if only in real life we can have songs to accompany our every move, i'll make my boy do that to me a million times!
