~*penang in the afternoon!

DAY 2 - afternoon

i have this obsession with old buildings! post-war/post-colonial buildings! and landmarks with characteristically Chinese imprints! these buildings are really what makes a place so special (well at least to me ;p)

so the afternoon part of the day was dedicated to Khoo Kongsi (as shown in all picture above) the Khoo Clanshouse...the last time i came by this place, it was closed for restoration, which i was pretty sadden by it then, but i came back again this time and whoa, the place just blew me away (literally!) the intricate ornaments that lined the main ancestral altar were massive! i craned my neck upwards to absorb every bit of it...totally intrigued!

the lower part of the place has been turned into a mini museum which at the same time still retained its ancestral altars and all...interesting place! beautiful place! ... we had the guards to tell us stories about the place and it was fantastic conversing with them..half english-half mandarin-half hokkien! ;p

i left the place feeling good...i came back for Khoo Kongsi and Khoo Kongsi had offered more than i came back for!
