greg gorman - top far left.
i'm on holidays now, which means, i am permitted to stay up late, sleep in late and of all things attend a photography seminar! ;) ...
it was 9 in the morning, when my handphone rang, i pick my phone up and LUCT@STAFF flashes in front of me! shit! i hate to get calls from my Uni..it could only mean two things... 1-A plagiarism call or 2-A favour call....A favour call meaning that my lecturers are finding for me to be part of the dancing team, the PR team and so forth (which i always make elaborate excuses to get myself out of it ;p)..but this time it was different (anyway i picked the phone up because i thought it was Veni, who also work part time at my Uni, calling to confirm our Genting trip) so anyway, i was saying, this time the call was surprisingly palatable (hahaha)...it was my Graphic Communication lecturer calling, asking if i would like to attend a photography seminar by Greg Gorman for free (if i haven't got it free, i would have to pay RM200)...so it was all good, i went! It is a good deal! International photographer, down in KL giving a seminar on digital photography and Photoshop! and i don't have to pay! And it is from 1pm to 6pm...a good time for me...i'll be awake by then and i probably won't have anything to do throughout the day...so it was all good!
The seminar was interesting, i won't say i learnt a lot in terms of practical stuffs (it is probably somewhere behind my head), instead i think i learnt more about presentation skills! Greg's a wonderful photographer and a even more wonderful speaker! it really amazes me the way he talks on and on while demonstrating photography skills..totally at awe! Well i have to say my understanding of Photoshop has taken another level, he taught black and white photography which i am really interested in..and actually came back to try my hands on it, but i think it ain't as good as his...like d-u-h!... will post it later;)
and all this ranting without even a proper introduction of Greg? Heck!... Greg's a photographer...like for years!!! And has photographed millions of celebrity (ok i am exaggerating here ;p) so anyway, he's got this massive portfolio of his works on famous artist and the collage of picture i have assembled to be posted up there are among his few works on famous peeps...Greg's the one at the top far left corner, and my favourite picture of his would be the one right next to him, a Marilyn Monroe impersonator on a break...the bottom three are of Al Pacino, Leonardo and Sofia Loren...classic looking pictures!....
The seminar left me wanting to learn more...and on a more hilarious note, Huay Pin (whom i went to the seminar with) and I can now proudly claim to have been to a Photography Seminar! hahahaha..although we felt soooo amateur-ish when we got there...but who cares! We were having fun!
